University teams
Disability services, student wellbeing teams, and student support professionals can open a conversation about fit and availability.
Referrals
A practical referral route for needs assessors, disability services, student support teams, and other professionals.
Who can refer
The student should be involved in decisions about support wherever possible, and information should be shared with appropriate consent.
Disability services, student wellbeing teams, and student support professionals can open a conversation about fit and availability.
Needs assessors can request DSA/NMH availability, discuss approved recommendations, or ask about professional partnerships.
Students, parents, carers, and supporters can ask about the right route, while avoiding unnecessary sensitive information.
Referral process
Step 1
A student, needs assessor, university team, or supporter shares practical details about the requested support.
Step 2
Fly High Mentoring checks the approved DSA/NMH role or private support question, remote delivery fit, start date, and available capacity.
Step 3
The student is told what mentoring can cover, what it cannot cover, how confidentiality works, and how liaison will be handled.
Step 4
Sessions focus on study access, workload, routines, planning, communication, confidence, and independence.
Step 5
Goals, attendance, remaining hours, engagement, and any changes in support needs are reviewed at agreed points.
Share practical details only. Avoid unnecessary sensitive health data at the first enquiry stage.
Response time target: Enquiries are usually reviewed within two working days
Referral form
A first enquiry should include enough information to check role fit, capacity, consent, and next steps without sharing unnecessary sensitive information.
Use the referral form for role fit, availability, start timeframe, and professional context.
Role-boundaried support. No therapy, counselling, crisis support, or subject tutoring.
